About the Artist & The passion of Paint

“I have always felt a deep connection with nature.
It brings to me a wholeness that I best express through painting.”

I am a Native Texan and was very fortunate to have found supportive encouragement amongst friends, parents, and educators in almost every early artistic endeavor. I attended The University of Texas at Arlington with a major in Commercial Art and became an illustrator for Neiman Marcus while still attending school. I taught Life Drawing at the Museum of Fine Art in Ft. Worth Texas . I was a technical illustrator doing perceptual drawings for a large English Gas Turbine company and for many years worked at LTV in the Electrical design engineering department as a designer/illustrator.

I started seriously allowing my passion fine art and painting to become my heart felt path about 11 years ago. I am fortunate to have works in collections across the U.S. as well as in Canada , England , Germany , and Holland and have happily had many successful private shows. I believe that studying, teaching and judging across the country has brought to me the opportunity to put many new painting tools in that all important "art tool kit".

I also truly count myself fortunate to have been able to study with some of the countries finest artists. Scott Christensen, Quang Ho, Carolyn Anderson, Hongnian Zhang, Scott Burdick, Lesley Rich, Huihan Liu, Dan Gerhartz, and C.W. Mundy to name the most influential to me. Having often been asked to share my thoughts on education, it’s pretty much a no brainier answer that comes to mind and I usually answer with something like; the more I learn the more I know I need and love to learn. I feel it's a good idea for an artist to have a deep understanding and always a deep feeling for what they are painting as well as a good handle on the use of the tools and innumerable applications available to them.

Let me share something personal with you. For me there is something very sensual about moving paint around a canvas. Sometimes I laugh out loud while I’m painting for the sheer pleasure it brings to me. It is my hope that my joy and passion come through in my paintings.
